How to safely dispose of paint and chemicals
Paint and chemicals
Household quantities of paint and chemicals can be dropped off at the Lismore Recycling & Recovery Centre free of charge at any time.
Household quantities is up to 20 litres/20 kilograms of household chemicals including paint, solvents and household cleaners, pool chemicals, acids and alkalis, pesticides, herbicides, poisons and hobby chemicals.
Volumes over 20 litres/20 kilograms will be accepted but charges will apply at a per kilogram rate. Unlabelled and marked chemicals are accepted.
Through our Agricycle program, we also take both plastic and steel chemical drums of any size for recycling. The plastic drums are made into new drums and wheelie bins. The steel drums are recycled as scrap steel.
Drums must be triple rinsed and have lids removed. The drums will be inspected by Council staff.
We also recycle many other forms of waste through our Agricycle rural recycling program. For more information phone us on 1300 87 83 87.
