Visit our well-established hoop pine and eucalypt forests

Hoop pine forest
This well-established forest at the eastern end of the gardens is a magical place. Always cool and shady, even in the middle of summer, it is a great place to take children who have never been in a real forest before. The current path is on the lower edge of the forest but more adventurous paths are being planned for the near future. Special brochures for self-guided walks for young and primary aged students can be found in the information boxes in the carparks.

Eucalypt forest
This area of open gum tree forest was originally planted as koala food by the Friends of the Koala in the mid-1990s. The koalas certainly enjoy the available tucker and can be seen high in the trees or sometimes, if you are very lucky, walking on the ground between trees. There are several picnic tables in this area that are easily accessible from the first carpark.
